April Newsletter 2022

April is here, and we have a lot happening as we celebrate Easter and other events throughout the month!

EASTER WEEKEND:

Throughout Easter weekend, we have several events planned that we’d love to have you attend with us.

First, on Friday, April 15th at 7pm at Coastal Chapel (1510 High Ridge Rd. Lake Worth, FL, 33461) we will be joining together with Coastal Chapel, Gospel Fellowship, and Proclaim Church for a GOOD FRIDAY SERVICE where we will worship together and remember the work Jesus did on the cross.

Next, we will be having a SUNRISE FAMILY SERVICE on Easter Sunday, April 17th at Ocean Front Park (4615 N. Ocean Blvd. Ocean Ridge, FL 33435) at 6:45am to worship and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus with our friends at Proclaim Church! We will have praise and worship, a short Easter message, and enjoy God’s beautiful creation together.

Finally, we are gathering at 5pm on Easter Sunday at Barwick Road Church for EASTER DINNER together. This is a truly fun time to enjoy a meal together (sign up to bring something at our Sunday Connection Table), hear a brief devotion on the resurrection of Jesus, and have some fun and games for families! We hope you’re able to make it!

On Friday, April 22nd, come join us for a FAMILY GAME NIGHT from 6-9pm at Carmela Coffee Company (247 SE 6th Ave Suite 1, Delray Beach, FL 33483). Drinks and dinner are available for purchase, so plan to be there for a fun evening of food and fellowship. Invite a friend to come along, and enjoy a night out with us! All ages are welcome!

We all deal with mental health in different ways on a daily basis. At times, mental health issues can hinder relationships, affect our overall health, and cause even the most routine activities to feel overwhelming.

Whether you or someone you care about is struggling with mental health issues, we invite you to join us for an evening where you will hear from Licensed Therapist and Mental Health Counselor, Kristan Torres, on the subject of GOD & MENTAL HEALTH.

Kristan will discuss this topic from a biblical standpoint. Her insight into this subject will both encourage and challenge you as she shares how GOD is able to help us, speak to us, and address our mental health in practical ways.

March Newsletter 2022

Dear Redemption Family,

This month, we are so grateful to have opportunities to serve together and grow together as a church! It has been a long season of isolation for so many, and we thank God that we are beginning to see doors open for greater discipleship, fellowship, and service!

Community Groups are starting up this month, and we are looking forward to these times of encouragement, prayer, and relationship during the week. We currently have a Tuesday and a Wednesday group, so if you'd like to participate, let us know! (Email pastor Daniel at daniel@redemptiondb.com)

We also have many opportunities coming up to serve our local community, and show God's love to those in need in our city and county. Titus 3:14 tells us we are to be devoted to good works, and as we serve others, we will see God at work in our own hearts as well.

Love Delray is a quarterly volunteer initiative that seeks to unite our community through collaboration and service. The next quarterly event is on Saturday, March 19th from 8:15am-12pm and is an easy way to join with us and other believers in our city to work on various service projects that help those in need. Sign up at www.lovedelray.com to come serve with us!

Finally, Proclaim Church in Lantana, which was sent out from Redemption Church as a new church plant in 2019, has invited us to participate in any of the many areas of community outreach they are leading in our county. (Read Pastor Will’s Note Below)

We are thankful to see God giving us so many ways to serve and grow with one another as we pursue and proclaim Jesus!

Pastor Will Torres and his wife, Kristan were sent out from Redemption Church to plant Proclaim Church in North Palm Beach County in 2019, and we are privileged to continue to partner with them in loving and serving our communities together. Read the message from Pastor Will below about ways we can get involved in serving together:

A Note from Pastor Will Torres:

As many know, Advent Lantana has united with Proclaim Church to now be known as Proclaim Church, an Advent Life Ministry.  We are so excited about what God is doing here and in our region and we are so glad to be connected and in relationship with all of you.

With that in mind, I wanted to let you know about some opportunities we have for some ministry collaboration, and ways that our churches can help serve our community together.

Through Advent Boca's relationship with a non profit organization called Boca Helping Hands, we have some great programs that are meeting the needs of the poor and hungry in Palm Beach County. It's a great opportunity to maybe have a small group serve together, or if you have individuals who are looking to volunteer on a regular basis.

1. Saturday Food Distribution.

From 12pm-3pm every Saturday we serve over 160 individual family units with a full bag of groceries, a bag of frozen meats, and vegetables/juice.  Boca Helping Hands delivers the food, and we handle volunteer coordination.  We try to get a team of 8 individuals for this team.

2. Friday Night Hot Meal Distribution.

Every Friday from 4:30pm-6pm we are giving away free hot meals to any car that drives up to our location.  We manage this project with 6 individuals every Friday night.

3."Take 5 Community Closet."

Every second Saturday of the month from 9am-12pm, this is where we have a community closet where any member of the community can come and pick out 5 individual clothing items for themselves and each of their family members.

This is a great opportunity for teens to get service hours for school and also a great opportunity for volunteers who want to get their feet wet serving and being the hand and feet of Jesus!

We would love to have you join us! Just e-mail me to let me know when you’d like to serve at wtorres@goadvent.org

Proclaiming Christ alone,

Will Torres

Missionary Update from The Vargas Family

Missionary Update from The Vargas Family

Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” 14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. 15 Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” Santiago 4:13-15

It is so comforting to know that God has everything under control! Our lives are so very fragile. Five weeks ago, I (Kim) donated my kidney to my brother Tony. Well, let me tell you, our bodies are so very fragile and the night after surgery I didn’t know how I was going to make it through alive. I am happy to say that both my brother and I are doing good. Our church family in New Mexico is going through some very tough times, death, illnesses and covid. Within a couple of weeks many sad things have happened. That is why Santiago 4:4:13-15 makes so much sense. It is always Gods will, and He is in control of everything. Even though this present life can be very painful we have the assurance of eternal life, where there will be no more tears, death, sorrows, crying or pain.

These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life. 1 John 5:13

On the 2nd of September Pastor Nieves got back from Washington after 2 1⁄2 months of doing contract work for a construction company. Nieves has been going every year in the summer to help support his family. He is now back on board 100% at the church. It is so good to have him back. He and Karen are leading youth group every Friday night. Once a month youth group is held at a different church, they rotate between Calvary Chapel Porvenir, Calvary Chapel Rubio and Calvary Chapel Bachiniva. It is a great time for the youth to get to know each other and participate in other churches activities.

Last week 2 mini splits were installed at the church. A mini split is a heating/air conditioning unit that is mounted on the wall. They were installed in the main sanctuary. We are so thankful for those who donated to make this purchase possible.

Last weekend, our church, helped organize a women’s retreat that was held at Casa de Bendicion. Five different churches attended. It was such a good time. Around 50 lovely women were encouraged in the Word of God Friday evening and all day Saturday.

Sunday morning Pastor Luis is taking the church through the book of 1st Corinthians. Wednesday evening Pastor Nieves is teaching on the doctrine of Expiation.

We are very blessed to be able to serve here in Bachiniva. It has been 17 1⁄2 years since we first came. We’ve seen the youth grow up and serve the Lord in all different areas, adults and couples as well. It is through the Word of God people are transformed, that is why God gave us this command in Mathew 28:19-20

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

We are truly thankful for all of you who have invested your time, prayers, and financial support to the church and our family.

The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. Numbers 6:24-26

We love you! Luis and Kim
